On Windows systems, why do I get an error message that says, no windows service available when I run Dfx?

Dfx relies on a particular windows service to run properly. Normally, this service is installed and started automatically when Dfx is installed. If you receive a "no windows service available" message when trying to run Dfx, do the following:
  1. Open the Windows Start menu and select Run.
  2. In the text box, type: services.msc and hit ENTER. This will bring up the services management window.
  3. Right-click on the AST Service and select Properties.
  4. Change the Startup type to Automatic and click OK.
  5. Right-click on the AST Service again and select Start.
The required Dfx Windows service should now be started.
